Brussels, 28 June 2012 – Burson-Marsteller, a leading global public relations and communications firm, today announced that Katarina Wallin Bureau has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of its Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Katarina joined Burson-Marsteller seven years ago from Marakon Associates, a strategy management consultancy and has been Managing Director EMEA Strategy for the past five years.
“We have made three acquisitions in the past eight months – Arcay in South Africa, Pohjoisranta in Finland and this week i&e in France, meaning that we are significantly larger as a region than a year ago. Burson-Marsteller EMEA now has a network of 29 offices and over 80 additional markets covered by affiliates. Katarina was the natural person to take on the role as Chief Operating Officer which is a critical position in a fast expanding organisation” said Jeremy Galbraith, CEO of Burson-Marsteller EMEA. “Since I became CEO in 2007 Katarina has played a key role in the development of the region, our practices, thought leadership and our evidence-based approach. As COO she will have overall responsibility for new business, the EMEA Practices, affiliate partners, our Insights and Research Group, marketing and internal communications”.
“I am excited about the opportunity to play a bigger role in building Burson-Marsteller in EMEA, having already spent seven enriching years with the company. We have a great team and ambitious plans to continue growing the network and our capabilities over the next few years and I look forward to being a key part of this,” said Katarina Wallin Bureau.
